Cogwheel Counselling

Ways to Donate

The work of Cogwheel Counselling is dependent both on organisations/trusts and individuals who support us financially and on client contributions for sessions.

Client session contributions account for around 60% of Cogwheel’s total income of £200k so it is vital that the remainder of the required funding of £80k is raised from a variety sources for Cogwheel to continue to provide affordable counselling for those financially disadvantaged.

Cogwheel is extremely grateful to those dedicated individuals who support our work through one-off gifts or regular donations to the charity. These gifts, however large or small, have a real impact on the services we provide.

Donations can be given either to a particular aspect of our work, such as a location or children/adult counselling work, or to support the broader activities of the charity – either approach makes a real difference to what we are able to offer.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can make your gift worth 25% more by completing a Gift Aid form. For every £20 you give, Cogwheel can claim an extra £5 in Gift Aid.

We receive regular donations from local individuals, many of whom decide to donate using Gift Aid.

Donating through Gift Aid means we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It will not cost you any extra.

What you need to do:

  • You need to make a Gift Aid declaration for us to claim. You can do this by filling in a form.
  • You must give a declaration to each charity you want to donate to through Gift Aid.
  • You can include all donations from the last 4 years. Tell us about any tax years where you did not pay enough tax.

Give a large gift

You can help Cogwheel develop a new service or ensure that a particular wellbeing role continues with a large gift donation, by making a payment directly into our bank account. If you would like your gift to be used towards a particular aspect of our work, please include this in the reference or get in touch with us.

Gifts in memory

Many people prefer that donations are made to a charity instead of giving flowers at a funeral. A really special way to honour a loved one and celebrate their life is to choose to support the work of Cogwheel Counselling. Your funeral director will be happy to organise this for you and once all the donations have been received, we can let you know how much was given.

In 2019 Cogwheel was left a generous legacy of £12,000, which made an appreciable difference.

If you would like to support us financially, please contact Cogwheel’s Business Support & Fundraising Manager Neil Davies at neil@cogwheel.org.uk.

Gifts in wills

When making your will, you will firstly want to make sure that those closest to you are provided for. But you may also feel able to help support the services of Cogwheel Counselling so that others may benefit now and in the future.

If you would like to support us financially, please contact Cogwheel’s Business Support & Fundraising Manager Neil Davies at neil@cogwheel.org.uk.
