Record turnout for the Cogwheel Canter Running Festival

New Year’s Eve saw record numbers turn up for the fourth Cogwheel Canter Running Festival, as around 600 runners of all ages and their families and supporters gathered at Girton Recreation Ground.

The event had something for all ages and abilities, with 10k, 5k and 2k races, along with a 200m toddler mini-run for the under-5s.

With 100 more runners than in 2023, the event has grown in popularity over the last couple of years. Even the weather was on our side – although a little windy, the worst of the weather held off until later in the day.

Well done to all that took part, and in particular our race winners – results for the 5k and 10k races are available on the Cogwheel Canter website.

The event raised over £2,500 for Cogwheel – a fantastic way to end the year! Thank you to all the volunteers that helped make the event happen, and to Girton Parish Council and event sponsors Archangel Architects, Resolute AV and Woodfines Solicitors for their support.

We look forward to welcoming you all again to the Cogwheel Canter Running Festival on Wednesday 31st December 2025!
