Cogwheel Cambridge Striders raise over £4,000

The Cogwheel Cambridge Stride, our brand-new event to mark our 35th anniversary, took place on Sunday 7th May after many months of preparation. On what turned out to be a beautiful day, 87 Striders arrived to walk either 6, 13 or 27 miles around the perimeter of Cambridge, raising over £4,000 in the process.

Cogwheel’s Head of Services, who completed the 13-mile Stride with Cogwheel’s Chair of Trustees Elisabeth Silver, commented, “For me, it was lovely to bump into other Striders and chat and laugh along the way and, of course, to have a fellow Strider to walk with. It has been a privilege to be part of the fundraising efforts at Cogwheel. Celebrating 35 years of providing affordable counselling locally is not a mean feat, particularly in the context of the Covid 19 pandemic in our recent history. I was reminded on Sunday of the many, many, many previous Cogwheelers who have been part of this journey and have contributed to the great work we do, whether they be staff, volunteers, trustees or the many others who have participated in other ways. Sunday’s Stride was no exception, we are so thankful to all those who shared their knowledge and precious time to make this happen.”

Huge thanks go to the entire team that planned and delivered a well-run event, all of the volunteers that helped make it happen on the day, and of course to all the Striders who took part and helped raise a fantastic amount to help us continue our work providing affordable counselling for people in Cambridgeshire.
