New counselling service to support local businesses

Businesses looking to support their employees’ emotional and mental wellbeing can now turn to the new Employee Counselling Service from Cogwheel Counselling.

Available to local businesses and organisations, the service offers prompt access to short-term counselling (6 sessions) for their employees.

According to ACAS, mental ill health costs employers in the UK £30 billion every year through lost production, recruitment and absence. Promoting positive mental health in the workplace can therefore be hugely beneficial. Staff with good mental health are more likely to perform well, have good attendance levels and be engaged in their work.

Cogwheel’s Head of Counselling, Esther McNeill, commented, “After having been approached by a local business wishing to support some of their employees with counselling, we realised there was more we could offer to help many more small organisations who could benefit from a similar service. Employees with good mental health are more likely to work productively and creatively, making a valuable contribution to the workplace, so there is a benefit to both employer and employee.”

Cogwheel has been providing affordable counselling since 1988 and is one of the few counselling services in Cambridgeshire to have received the professional recognition of accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. All Cogwheel counsellors are either fully qualified or in the very final stages of their training.
